WHAT IS THE SLOW FASHION MOVEMENT?

The slow fashion movement is a response to the ethical and environmental havoc the fashion industry has played. The slow fashion movement was coined in 2008 but has largely gone unnoticed outside of handmade wardrobe enthusiasts online.

WHY SLOW FASHION?

Making your own clothing, or exploring designers who pay attention to the ethical and environmental concerns of fashion, is an important part of the social justice conversation. It also empowers people to conceive of clothing they can feel good about wearing--either because they made it with their own hands or sustainable materials and processes were used in the making of those garments.
