SCOPE
Helping faculty design open ended projects that put students in the driver seat for creating content. That content should live beyond the class assignment itself.
These workshops could features strategies or tools that would be helpful to use.
POTENTIAL WORKSHOPS
750 WORDS ex. writing every day; not blogging. show teachers how this works in their own lives. is it something they could use with students?
DIGITAL ADVOCACY ex. with SL/HD model, how can we harness students passions for social media into active engagement with social justice?
BECOMING A SAVVY DATA CONSUMER AND CREATOR ex. using raw data to tell a story. help students be able to also read charts and graphs, analyze them, critique them, and use these strategies to create their own understanding of topics and visualize them for audiences.
VIRTUAL STORYTELLING ex. using VR to create different, individual virtual learning environments in the classroom
GAME DESIGN / GAMIFICATION OF LEARNING ex. students design games to deploy on fellow students; shows their knowledge of a particular content area.
“You have _____ of minutes/hours...what are YOU going to do with that time? How can you use your resources to express a point of view?” ex. pose this to faculty; have them go through this process...so they can use it on their students.
