+ PROVIDING FEEDBACK ON ASSIGNMENTS
Assignment Annotations make it possible for teachers to leave annotations on submitted files from students right from their browser without needing to download the file first. Once complete, Students are then able to view these annotations from their browser window.
1 To enable Assignment Annotations, a faculty member must first enable Blackbaud Online Submission when you Add New Assignment. This enables students to submit files and text online.
2 Students and teachers have two different ways to navigate to the Assignment Detail page.
The first method is through the My Day section and then clicking on the Assignment Center.
Faculty and students can click on Classes, then click on the class name, and finally select the Assignments option to see a list of assignment types to select from.
3 From the Assignment Detail page, teachers can click on individual students to see their submissions. By selecting the title of an assignment that has the Blackbaud Online Submission feature enabled, teachers are able to use the annotation tools or download the file.
From the Assignment Center screen, students can view the submitted file and any annotations left behind by the teacher.
4 After selecting Annotate for a student's submission, the document loads with four tools teachers can use to edit and correct an assignment.
DRAW
With Draw, teachers can write on the submitted document. Once a marking has been made on the document, the teacher can choose whether to save or delete the drawn item. Select Cancel to close the Draw tool without saving or Done to save all drawn markings. Users accessing the submitted item can see the drawing and who wrote it. The original user is also able to delete the writing without having to open Draw again.
Please note that the only available Draw color is black.
COMMENT
Teachers use Comment to leave a message on the submitted file. Select Comment from the toolbar and then pick any spot on the document to have the comment box appear. Once Post is select, the comment appears as a small flag on the document. Hover or select the flag from the submitted file to see the comment and who wrote it.
This toolbar option prints out the submitted file. Any drawn markings are not included.
DOWNLOAD
Instead of printing out the file, teachers can download it to their computer. Drawn on markings are not included in the download, but comments do appear.
NOTE:
Assignment Annotation supports over 100 different file types between images, videos, audio, and more. These include the following:
